11000 acres of tracks, bush, river crossings, mountain terrain and the tracks are categorized into 3 hardness levels- green(normal), yellow(hard) and red (extreme).
The park map they give you has all the details and also displays symbols for very steep terrain.
We just had so much fun, even the fact that it rained didn't dampen our spirits (even when our tent became more of a pool and had to move out and seek refuge with Batman in the Batcave), as there is just so much to see and do. You are never left bored. The campsites are great, there's four main ones with hot showers and flushing toilets, and all the other campers were respectful of the noise curfew(10:30) and all was quiet at about a quarter past 10 at night which is great for the kiddies rest(and ours too). It is of note that you can camp anywhere on the property, you are not just restricted to the campsites and that REALLY opens up your options!
Interestingly enough, you can cut your own wood (not standing wood- only already fallen stuff) which there was plenty of, and we took a small chainsaw and used it to lop up logs for firewood.
dogs are also allowed (on leash) so we took the pan licker along for the run and i think he thoroughly enjoyed it -swimming in creeks and scaring the shit out of Batman at every given chance.
As a result of the tent incident, when the time came to leave, we opted for the "Quick packup" and cut the ropes, rolled her up and placed her in one of the many bins provided.
we have since bought a new, improved, much bigger tent, and we are heading back out to LandCruiser Mountain Park this weekend (Friday the 17th of April) to test it out - all are invited to join us for another weekend of fun.
see that's the thing about LCMP- its just so big, you can keep going back without the fear of being bored.
Here's the park map...remember the scale... it's 11 thousand acres...
Hawkeye out.
